Growth in Internet traffic over the last year was 53%

The research company TeleGeography Research published a report, which assesses the growth of Internet traffic over the past year. According to these data, for the period from mid-2007 until mid-2008 consumption traffic increased by 53%. Despite the fact that this increase seems significant, the rate of increase in the volume of data transmitted decreased slightly compared with last year. Thus, for the period from mid-2006 to mid-2007 growth rate was 61%. The report also states that the consumption of traffic is increasing, mainly due to developing countries as well, for example, for U. S. growth rate is much lower than for the whole world. Meanwhile, the volume of data transmitted between the U. S. and Latin America grew twice. The main reason for increasing the volume of traffic researchers called the great popularity of online video.
