Companies HP, Intel and Yahoo ! announced the creation of a global, covering many areas, open computing laboratory for the development of research and development in"cloud computing"."Cloud computing"represents an approach where the tools of integrated hardware and software is available via the Internet user in the form of service, allowing the use of web-friendly interface for remote access to resources.
The initiative promotes cooperation of representatives of industry, academia and government organizations in the area of Internet computing with high data processing and allows you to overcome a number of financial and physical barriers.
Laboratory Cloud Computing Test Bed, created by HP, Intel and Yahoo !, provides global distribution test online environment that supports research aimed at developing software, improving the management of data processing centers and hardware solution of problems related to Internet calculations much larger scale than ever before. This initiative will also contribute to the emergence of new Internet applications and services.
The new draft HP, Intel and Yahoo ! cooperating with the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA), the University of Illinois at Urbana-Shampeyn and Technology Institute in Karlsruhe, Germany (KIT). In the initiative also involved the National Science Foundation, pcs. Illinois.
Initially, the laboratory will include six"centres of excellence", located on the grounds IDA, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Shampeyn, Shteynbushskogo Computing Centre Institute of Technology in Karlsruhe, laboratories, HP, Intel Research Organization and Yahoo !. To support calculations with high data processing will be involved from 1000 to 4000 computing cores. It is expected that all sites that are part of the laboratory will be fully functional and ensure access of researchers worldwide who will be selected later this year already.
