Innovative SRP-MIP displays come to market in the I quarter. 2010

Taiwan manufacturer of TPO Displays panel said the development of devices based on proprietary technology SRP-MIP (Self-Refreshing-Pixel Memory-in-Pixel), based on the use of low-temperature polycrystalline silicon. Such displays will be of high transmittance, low-level power consumption, which makes them attractive for use in mobile terminals. The company plans to start mass production of panels of new technology in the first quarter of next year. Engineers TPO Displays successfully applied to MIP-3 technology to create a 47-inch panel with a resolution of 640 x 360 pixels. In the reflective mode, the panel consumes only 1 mW. With the simplification of pixel circuits, TPO may increase the resolution panels up to 221 dpi, not going beyond that in the 1 mW power consumption. According to the developers, SRP-MIP panels can be used in a wide variety of applications, including mobile phones, smart phones, electronic reader, handheld navigators, automotive electronic systems.
