According to a study analysis of WitsView, prices of LCD TVs with diagonals from 19 to 52 inches in the first quarter of this year decreased by 7, 5% over the previous period. In the least affected segment of 46"-52", and the largest price declines occurred in the segment of 22"-26".
In the fourth quarter 2008 decline in prices for LCD TV compared to the third quarter stood at 8, 9%. In the first quarter of 2008, the fall in the price level of 5, 3% as compared to the fourth quarter of 2007.
As noted in the study, despite the economic crisis, the LCD TV manufacturers are actively introducing new technologies and improve the specification of their products. The key trend this year will increase the number of TVs with LED backlight and the screen update frequency 240 Hz. If last year`s 120-Hz television sets were in the High-End class, it already this year, they gradually move into the middle segment.
