TDK:controllers for high-speed flash memory

July 25, 2008, 3:51 am

Presented by TDK controllers GBDriver RA8 series drives are designed for storage subsystems based on high-speed NAND flash memory format 2 KB and 4 Kb per page. Supports one-chips (SLC) and multilevel (MLC) NAND flash memory, in the first case volume device can be within the 128 MB - 16 Gb, in the second - double the number from 256 MB to 32 GB. Controllers provide high speed of Governors teams, contain 15 - bit ECC error correction scheme and a system to prevent errors If the food.
The series GBDriver RA8 implemented a new algorithm, leveling the number of cycles to rewrite each block, which increases the lifespan chip NAND flash memory in general. In addition, supported by improved features SMART, to obtain information on the number of errors in each memory block. While compatibility with profiles submitted by controllers PIO0-6, DMA0-4 and UDMA0-6, speed reading - up to 50 Mb/s, writing - up to 35 Mb/s (up to 15 Mb/s in the case of MLC). The emergence in the market CF memory cards and solid drives, built on the base GBDriver RA8, expected in November this year.
